The Hive Community Circle is a survivor-led, survivor-driven support organization helping women and girls in South Carolina overcome the trauma of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking. We are on a mission to provide unwavering support and compassion to the most impacted, yet most underserved survivors in SC.

 

Position Overview

Title: Youth Program Specialist

Reports to: Executive Director

Position Open Date: 2.22.21

Position Close Date: 3.1.21

Hours: Monday-Friday 9-5pm, 40 hours per week, includes occasional evenings and weekends

Salary: $35,000 annually with the potential for increased salary for individuals fluent in Spanish. Please note this is a grant-funded position. 

Paid Holidays, Annual Paid Vacation, and Sick Leave included

Required Skills: Experience providing youth services, group facilitation, outreach, project management, has experience working with Black, Indigenous, Youth of Color, and those that live in communities experiencing poverty.

Preferred Skill: Bi-lingual

Preferred Educational Background: Bachelor’s in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or Public Health

Physical Demands: Lifting of office/program supplies and materials up to 15 to 25lbs. Standing if physically able would be required during times of facilitation for the Buzz Pack and while training facilitators.

As a culturally-specific peer advocacy organization, The Hive is seeking a qualified and passionate individual with lived experience directly related to sexual assault, intimate partner violence, or stalking (directly experienced or exposed to). We desire hiring a professional who works well with youth and is passionate about youth justice and decreasing interpersonal violence among  youth and young adults. The range of expected duties in this role include: 

  • Facilitate  peer support healing circle for teen survivors (11-17)-Bloom

  • As a certified Peer Health Advocate provide advocacy, case management, and holistic support to survivors and victims of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking (girls 11+ and women).

  • The employee will serve as a liaison and work closely with The Hive interns working in the respective areas. 

  • Expand partnerships with youth-serving organizations and colleges for youth/young adult programs

  • Create and manage Hive Youth Advisory Council

    •  Recruit teens to serve on the council

  • Plan community awareness events for Teen Dating Violence and Teen Pregnancy Prevention Awareness Months

  • Act as Project Coordinator for the emP.O.W.E.Ring Others grant funded by Fact Forward. This federal grant will include some of the following tasks:

    • Increase exposure of reproductive health information to youth and young adults of color via The BuzzPak

    • Facilitate and train new MSW co-facilitators for the Buzz Pak

      • Recruit participants for The Buzz Pak

    • Assist Project Lead with meeting grant benchmarks and responsibilities 

    • Attend additional trainings and meetings 

    • Carry out additional tasks as assigned and identified in the emP.O.W.E.Ring Others Project Benchmarks which will be discussed further during interview
