A GIVING CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT SURVIVORS
OF SEXUAL ASSAULT & INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE

Journey with us down memory lane as we reflect and
celebrate the growth and impact of The Hive.

2016
2024
From co-working in Richland Library and R2I2 to moving into our first
office location on North Main. We managed to not only persistently move through the COVID-19 pandemic; we chose to pivot and meet survivors where they were,
which carpeted our growth of one employee to now today 10;
providing services that not only meet the needs of survivors but also fill the voids that many partnering organizations experience as a result of restricted funding.
The Hive is because We Are.
Our reach from 1 survivor now exceeds 150 a year, and it is because of those of you who believe in our mission and see our presence as necessary to SC.
May you, too, be grateful as we journey together for our
Decade of Transformation Celebration.
-Ashley Olayinka, Founder and CEO
The Hive has been providing direct services since 2019.
Impact data has been collected since Fiscal Year 2020-2021.
The following graph shows the increase in survivors served over the years and the monetary investment we have been able to direct to survivors in South Carolina.

NOTE ON 2024 DECREASE: With the intention of strengthening our capacity, the organization decided to pause the Bee Box program and wait until hiring a full-time Education and Volunteer Coordinator to activate the distribution of our outreach program. Therefore, within this fiscal year, no new Bee Boxes were distributed throughout the state. We have filled the position, and for 2024-2025, The Hive has budgeted for the distribution of 800 Bee Boxes.
ANSWERING THE CALL FOR HOPE
Since 2015, The Hive has responded to the needs of survivors across South Carolina by providing hope and support.

In 2019, we began offering direct services, and last year, we invested $504,091 to assist 164 survivors—many of whom might have returned to their abusers without our support. Through our education and outreach programs, we also reached an additional 2,910 individuals, raising awareness and providing training on prevention. As our community's needs continue to grow, so does our commitment to providing support.
Over the past 12 months, our average caseload has increased from 10 to 50 survivors per month—an impressive 400% rise in individuals seeking emotional, financial, employment, relocation, and childcare assistance.

To sustain their hope, we’re doing everything possible to ensure access to items essential for living an independent life free from abuse and violence including advocacy, group healing circles, and one-on-one counseling with a licensed therapist.

THE GIFT OF HOPE
To meet the needs of Midlands-based survivors, we invite you to become a Steward of Hope.
Your donation will help fund our four core programs and serve as a gateway to healing and a light source for those in need.
EMERGENCY & ECONOMIC RELIEF
Funds support temporary and transitional housing, relocation, rent and utilities, gas, groceries, clothes,
and critical wraparound services like financial planning, workforce development, and childcare.
The average hotel placement cost per night is $103.60
COUNSELING
Funds support one-on-one trauma and wellness counseling for primary and secondary survivors and weekly group Healing Circles to aid in developing skills for managing PTSD, stress, anxiety, anger, and depression.
A single counseling session with a qualified counselor costs $80. The average survivor requires 30.
SURVIVOR-BASED OUTREACH
Funds support Bee Boxes, emotional support toolkits given to survivors upon disclosure of abuse. The boxes provide tangible items like an essential oil roller, skincare products, and a journal to help with mental clarity during such a vulnerable time.
The cost of a child’s Bee Box is $35. The cost of an adult’s is $30.
EDUCATION & OUTREACH
Funds support age-appropriate prevention and awareness learning opportunities for children, teens, and adults, volunteer activities, and community engagement events.
The average cost of awareness & prevention training per person is $169.
All donations are tax- deductible.
